Duane Davis, known as Keefe D, has been found guilty of murder in the 1996 killing of Tupac Shakur and faces life in prison. Shakur was shot on the Las Vegas Strip after a Mike Tyson fight at the MGM Grand.
Prosecutors argued that Davis was the shot caller who directed the attack. Much of their case rested on circumstantial evidence and on Davis’s own words, including statements he made in interviews and in his memoir.
The defense that did not work
The defense told jurors those statements were a story told to sell books. On Episode 86, Michael Dye and Lloyd Golburgh join Daniel Rosenberg to explain why that argument fell short, how the 2008 immunity question played into the case, and what role Suge Knight may have had.
The panel closes on what comes next. Sentencing is ahead, and an appeal is likely. They also talk about what the verdict means for the Shakur family after so many years.
